WHAT IS THE CALL THAT KILLS??
The Call That Kills is about the real cost of being called to serve, lead, build, and pour into other people. Whether that call shows up through ministry, entrepreneurship, leadership, business, community work, or simply being the person everybody depends on, there is always something it will require from you. The “call” is the purpose, assignment, or responsibility placed on your life, and sometimes that call kills the version of you that cannot go where you are headed. It can kill your comfort, your ego, your need for approval, certain relationships, old habits, and sometimes even the life you thought you were going to have. But there are also things we have to kill: pride, fear, inconsistency, selfishness, distractions, and anything else that keeps us from fully becoming who the assignment requires us to be. This book is an open and honest conversation about the struggle behind serving others: the exhaustion, sacrifice, loneliness, pressure, disappointment, obedience, and the moments when you question whether what you are called to do is worth what it is costing you. The Call That Kills is about realizing that purpose is powerful, but purpose is not always painless, and sometimes answering the call means being willing to let something in you die so that something greater can live.
